Do no harm: A more cautious approach to working with trauma
One of the most common concerns when working with trauma is that our intervention makes things worse for our clients. This one day course explores these concerns and focuses on practical ways of working to ensure safe practice when working with trauma.
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Describe some of the risks of working with trauma
- Identify treatment phases
- Recognise signs of increased arousal and identify ways of lowering arousal
- Practice techniques to work with flashbacks
Vicarious Trauma
This one day course is aimed at counsellors and other workers who want to learn more about vicarious trauma and how to protect themselves and others against some of its effects.
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Describe what vicarious trauma is
- Recognise risk factors for developing vicarious trauma and how to minimise these
- Identify the signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma
- Learn ways of working more self protectively
- Recognise what helps with recovery
Each of these courses can be delivered at a venue of your choice for up to 16 people. The cost is £400.00 per course plus travel and accommodation expenses.
