Counselling Courses
New Pathways Counselling College
Since 2018, we have run a thriving Counselling College at New Pathways. As specialist sexual violence support providers, we have nearly 30 years’ experience in delivering specialist therapeutic support to adults and children affected by complex trauma.
We have a strong reputation in both counselling and training and provide a supportive environment with expert tutors who are both practising counsellors and qualified teachers. We offer a learning experience that is authentic and professional, from your first step into counselling through to professional development with an expert diploma in working with trauma and a certificate in counselling supervision.
We provide opportunities for course progression, in-house placements, and further CPD. As a charity, any income generated from our Counselling College is returned to our charitable services so we can continue to support people affected by sexual violence.

Counselling College Testimonials
“The course content was exactly what I needed and wanted for my journey towards becoming a Supervisor. It was informative, educational and helped me develop my supervision style. Debbie and Michelle compliment each other in styles and knowledge and bring forth a truly wonderful learning experience.” – Course participant, Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision
“Going to college or university can seem daunting, whereas completing a course at New Pathways seemed ‘doable’ for me, and I wanted a course that was respected in the counselling world. I’ve got an incredible amount out of this course. I learnt so much about the skills needed to be a helper, and eventually a counsellor. It has been about so much more than just counselling skills, it’s been about people and about life.” – Course participant, Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
“The tutors made the experience memorable and it was like we were all peers, not students. We all bonded so well and, even though it was online, it was a safe space and we got the quality of the teaching. It was really enjoyable; in fact, it was awe-inspiring. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at New Pathways for all of their support, and I wish I’d done all of my counselling training with New Pathways.” – Course participant, Level 5 Diploma in Counselling for Trauma
“Thank you so much for the course, it’s been really interesting, friendly and accessible. I’ve learnt a lot about myself, and about counselling and listening skills. There is much more to it than people realise. I’ve always wanted to be a counsellor and I intend to continue my journey with New Pathways. The learning style here suits me perfectly and everything is really structured and clear, with friendly and responsive tutors.” – Course participant, Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
“A lot of people start practising as counsellors after level 4, unaware of what they don’t know about trauma. I believe that everyone should do this course to learn about stabilisation and phased approaches to trauma work. The New Pathways tutors are amazing, the course was so much more structured than my level 4 at University, and the course was perfectly delivered over Zoom.” – Course participant, Level 5 Diploma in Counselling for Trauma
“Studying with New Pathways, I’ve felt so supported and I’ve grown so much in confidence. I can see it in my writing and in my practice. I have had extra support with my dyslexia and we get support and guidance with the technology. I am so pleased I did this course. We were all treated as professionals throughout and have learnt so much from each other.” – Course participant, Level 5 Diploma in Counselling for Trauma
