The Male Survivors Campaign

Dyddiad: 5 Chwefror 2024 | Gan: newpathway
We are proud to be launching our Male Survivors Campaign for Sexual Abuse & Sexual Violence Awareness Week.

The Male Survivors Campaign is here to raise awareness of sexual abuse and violence perpetrated against men and boys, and to let them know that support is available - you don't have to suffer in silence.

The campaign was developed in response to feedback from our Male Client Focus Group, who helped us to understand the barriers many male survivors faced when seeking support for sexual violence, particularly when doing so online.

The ONS reports that last year, 275,000 men experienced sexual assault or attempted sexual assault in Wales and England, however many will struggle to find specific support for sexual violence against men and boys. We're here to say we support men and boys who have survived sexual abuse.

Sexual violence is often described as a gendered issue, however this does not mean that men and boys cannot experience it.

It is thought that around 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will experience sexual violence at some point in their lifetime. These are the current figures, but they are likely to underestimate the full extent due to the stigma surrounding sexual violence.

We envision a world without sexual violence for everyone regardless of gender, and would greatly appreciate your support.
